That land with another thud when you toss it into the trash because no one will eat them! THAT’S some expensive bread–buy a loaf, force down a couple of slices, then throw the rest away! Instead, bake up a loaf of this award-winning gluten free bread, and your only problem will be keeping everyone in the house from devouring it!

gfJules SANDWICH BREAD Mix  (makes ~2 ½ lb. loaf)

Ingredients to add to mix:

2 Tbs. honey or agave nectar              1 ¼ C club soda, GF beer, ginger ale, milk or yogurt

¼ C extra virgin olive oil                     2 large eggs (or substitute like flaxseed meal + water)

Jules. I ordered the T-Fal PF 311E Actibread bread machine as you recommended and today I used your bread mix in the bread machine with wonderful results. It was perfect. It reminds me so much of wheat bread that I have not had since 2000.

Your mix was easy to use. I used club soda and did add two additional teaspoons of club soda after the mixing because I thought the dough was a little dry. The bread was perfect. The bread machine was easy to use with three GF settings. The bread machine manual said the GF bread may not brown well but this loaf was browned perfectly on a light setting.

Please tell Jeff that the GF gods were indeed looking over me just as he had said in the email letting me know there was a delay in shipping the bread mix.

Thank you for your help and for developing a great bread mix.

I am giving this a five-star rating. Not only is the bread delicious but the customer service/help is top notch. The first time I tried the bread something went terribly wrong. It might have been “operator problem” or something else. I contacted Jules and I think within an afternoon I heard from her. She offered all sorts of suggestions as to what might have happened. I even got a coupon to try another package of bread mix. I must say I was a little hesitant worrying the same thing would happen again. I followed Jules suggestions to the tee. I used ginger ale instead of milk for one thing. The mixing couldn’t have been easier. The batter was pretty much the way it was supposed to be. Most of all the bread was delicious. It looked great (should have taken a picture); sliced easily and tasted great. I couldn’t be happier with the product and service.

I am going to try the Irish soda bread next.

I bought your bread mix in hopes that I could have GF bread again. My son has multiple food allergies, including egg. I was a bit nervous to see how this would work out with an egg replacement. It worked! I substituted 2 eggs with 1/2 cup applesauce and 1 tsp baking powder and made the mix per the directions. The bread is amazing! Thank you for letting me eat bread again.

I have only used one of the bread mixes that I ordered from you, but it was absolutely wonderful. I am new to being gluten free, but the 1st loaf of bread that I made didn’t last long at all. My husband isn’t gluten free but he even loved it and said to me, you can’t even tell this is gluten free. Your bread mixes are wonderful. Made your muffin recipe the other day and you couldn’t even tell it was gluten free. Your products and recipes are wonderful.

I just have to follow up and say: Bread, hamburger rolls, and hot dog rolls made from your bread mix are delicious! (Btw, the seltzer water works great.) The pizza crust and muffin mixes are delicious! My husband isn’t gluten-free, but we’re both happily eating everything I make. And, with precooked pizza crusts in the freezer, I no longer feel that I’m stuck eating the hard, cardboard-like crust of the GF pizza our local pizzeria makes when I want a pizza in a hurry. Thank you!!

I had some trouble getting a good loaf of bread every time using my T-fal breadmaker, so Jules suggested I try her bread mix. It turned out the best batch of homemade bread I had ever made (I got 3 mixes and it was the same every time). The sides of my loaves still sink in a bit, but it doesn’t hurt the overall taste or crumb of the bread (I think this may be something to do with my personal mixer). The bread is good for about 3-4 days sliced in a ziploc bag on the counter before it grows moldy, but mine is usually eaten long before that, and it freezes and toasts great. Definitely use something carbonated (I use ginger ale) as the recipe suggests. I can make a really tasty bread just doing the recipe myself with gf jules flour, but the mix did turn out an overall better product.

    (verified owner):

Your suggestion to use club soda made a great loaf of bread! What about seltzer water? Since it’s also carbonated and would probably have less taste than even club soda (at least that’s my guess), I was wondering if you think that would also work.

    • (verified owner):

Hi Catherine, so glad the club soda worked for you! Seltzer water works great too – I use Perrier sometimes. As long as it’s not flavored, or tonic water (!) it should be fine! Happy baking!

I’m new on this “gluten-free journey.” So far, I have made one loaf of sandwich bread, one loaf of Artisan bread, biscuits, and a pizza. The sandwich bread sank a bit, either because I neglected to add the extra flour for high altitude baking or because I took the bread from the oven too quickly, instead of letting it cool with the over door open, as suggested by gfJules. I’ll try this one again! The Artisan loaf got rave reviews from some of my gluten-free friends. I loved the flavor of this one! Then I attempted biscuits. The flavor was fine, but I made them too flat, so they didn’t rise nice and fluffy, as I had wanted. I’ll do a second trial run on them at some point. Today I tried the pizza mix. I loved the flavor of the pizza crust, but, not being a huge pizza fan, I didn’t like my toppings. Now I want to try to make bread sticks from the pizza dough. Always a new challenge! I like the taste and texture of all of these breads; I just need to refine my technique. In doing this bread baking for the first time in my life, I also stumbled across USA bread pans as a great product. Because I don’t have room for a bread machine, I bought the hearth pan made by USA pans, and the sandwich loaf fit perfectly. I have to say that gfJules is one of the best companies I have ever dealt with. They are sincere, quick to answer questions or complaints, and certainly some of the most courteous folks I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. Thank you, gfJules!!

This gluten free bread mix is SO AMAZING! I can’t believe that I get to eat delicious homemade bread… tears of joy! I recently got the Cuisinart Bread Maker and now, I’m obsessed. I quickly blew through my supply and was in mourning while the bread mix was temporarily out of stock. And so, I tried another brand to “tide me over.” Needless to say, I learned my lesson and will now be buying in mass quantities! Thank you so much Jules for making a product so delicious, with the right balance of ingredients. My life is changed forever. <3

WOW!!!! This is amazing bread. Even my husband, who is not GF, loves it. After trying the first loaf in my 25 year old breadmaker which did NOT work well, I made a second loaf using my mixer. Amazing!!! Not only was it super easy, the bread rose beautifully, smelled yummy, and is delicious. I used sparkling water. The rise is amazing and the release from the pan heavenly. I will definitely be making lots more of this and stop the insanity of trying to find something edible at the store. Thanks, Jules, for the fantastic product.

One big problem with Jules’ bread mix – you can’t stop eating it!. I left my first review of the bread mix back on Aug. 3rd, 2015 after using the T-fal bread making machine. I have continued to use it a lot because this bread Jules’ has concocted is the guaranteed best gluten free bread you will ever find. The taste is outstanding the texture is perfect and you will especially love this bread if you have ever paid $7 for a frozen loaf of some other bread only to open it and find large holes in the slices. In Jules’ bread, there are no holes, just wonderfully tasting bread.

Jules is my hero! She creates wonderful mixes and provides us celiacs with delicious recipes. I’ve been a celiac for 15 years and it has been made a lot easier due to Jules. Thank you Jules for all the work you do.

I just made and ate my first ever GF Jules loaf of sandwich bread! It was so easy, quick, and delicious despite the fact that I didn’t notice I forgot to add the eggs until the dough was rising. I had to quickly dump everything back in the mixing bowl to mix the eggs in, but the dough survived my mistake, baked beautifully, and tasted delicious!! I can’t fathom ever eating a store-bought loaf of gluten free bread again. Thank you, Jules!!

Highly recommended and so easy too. A great way to avoid all the additive filled mass produced bread in stores.

This is the BEST gluten free bread ever. So easy to make and the flavor is wonderful. I made it in my bread maker with the milk and honey option. My house smelled fabulous and the taste was even better. Definitely one I will be ordering again!

Best Gluten free bread ever! It has the nice texture if real homemade fresh bread. My husband and son love it! And my son said I need to order more of this. I’ve tried the muffins mix too, 5 star rating also. I chopped up an apple in small pieces and added to mine. You will love them!

I was skeptical about making gf bread because the commercially available breads are stiff and brittle. My husband recently bought me the T-Fal Actibread breadmaker. I ordered gfJules bread mix and made my first loaf today. It is nothing short of amazing. The bread rose higher than a traditional bread loaf, has a nice crust, a soft and even flexible texture, and tasted great. I did nothing special, just used the instructions with the mix, watched Jules video about using the bread machine, and made sure to scrape down the sides during kneading. For liquid, I used a gf ale. I do not expect to ever buy a gf loaf again… and it was so easy, I will show my husband so he can make his own bread!

I haven’t baked homemade bread since my middle daughter was diagnosed with celiac. I baked my first loaf tonight using the bread mix, and it came out beautiful. While it was baking, my oldest couldn’t stop salivating over the smell. The aroma was amazing. It was so easy to make, and it turned out delicious.

My flour and my bread mix arrived Friday and so yesterday I baked my first loaf. I used milk and it turned out just wonderful. It rose quite a bit more while baking and turned out wonderful. The bread is beautiful, dense, moist, and wonderful taste. My husband love it too and I already had a regular loaf of wheat homemade bread on the counter, but he went back for more of your GF Bread Loaf! Next loaf, I am going to try the club soda and see if it comes out different. The GF bread is for my daughter-in-law…but honestly, there may not be any left before she can come get it ! Just really wonderful, homemade flavorful bread with great texture. You would never know it was gluten free.

Today was my adventure into the world of baking gluten free bread. Your sandwich bread mix makes it so easy! I used Redbridge GF beer for the liquid. It rose beautifully and when done, released easily from the loaf pan. I let it cool for as long as I could then sliced a still slightly warm piece and took my first bite. Soooo good! I ate the first slice plain and it was delicious. My second slice (yes, it was that good!) was topped with butter and srawberry jam. For the first time in 10 years I had a slice of fresh bread that looked like bread, behaved like bread and best of all tasted like bread! This is the start of a beautiful relationship!

We made two loaves of this bread for the communion service on Ash Wednesday. It was fabulous and many people remarked on how delicious it was. I have taken it to a few luncheons when I wasn’t sure there would be a gluten free option and it is always a big hit with everyone – even the gluten eaters.

Just made the first loaf of GFJules bread for my 9 yr old celiac daughter (even though my celiac friend has been telling me about this flour for a year!). She LOVES it. She was able to eat a sandwich in her lunch today and shared her excitement about it as soon as she walked in the door from school. No crumbly, dense bread or thin gf tortillas like she’s been suffering with since her diagnosis. She is already thrilled about tomorrow’s lunch! She was equally excited about the graham crackers even though I haven’t made them yet. Thank you doesn’t begin to cover it.

I made my first loaf of gfJules Bread this weekend, and I have to tell you it was wonderful. I used my bread machine and the loaf came out perfect. I have been looking for a GF bread to use in my diet and I am happy to say that gfJules Bread Mix will be it. Jules offers so many other products, which I have also tried with great success. I am sold on making my own GF bread at home with her products.

By far the yummiest GF bread I’ve ever made…and SO easy to make! The flour mix is already prepared for you, and all the other additives I had on hand; which made it even easier. Definately will be making this mix again! Thank you for making such a perfect GF product!

I started learning to bake in a big way after being diagnosed with celiac just over 2 years ago. I’ve learned a lot in that time and can make some pretty decent gf food and baked goods now, but I am by no means an expert. That said, I first tried making a loaf of bread from this mix a couple months ago. After misreading the recipe and not adding enough water at first, I was sure I had messed it up. Bread is temperamental after all. Not this bread! Even with my mistake, it was still wonderful! It was moist and soft – everything you normally don’t expect from gluten free bread. Great product!

We purchased a box of your sandwich bread mix this spring at the Gluten Free Allergy Fest in Minneapolis. My son is a first grader and just finished studying The Little Red Hen story. His class had baking day to make bread and pumpkin muffins. I was so glad to be able to take your box of bread mix in to bake for him and another student who have allergies. The dough looked fabulous! After the feast, my son brought home extra bread for us to try and it is fabulous! Thank you for your product!

I have been using Jules All Purpose Flour to make bread. My technique has been repeatedly tuned so that now I can make 12 loaves in one session with consistent results. Breakfast loaves have golden raisins and Cinnamon worked into batter with candy sprinkles on top. Lunch and supper bread may have poppy seeds, coarse pepper, or sesame seeds. In my heritage bread is eaten with every meal. This gluten free bread has helped reduce my intestinal distress. Before the company split I bought six 5 lb bags marked ‘All Purpose Flour.’ From the new company I am buying six 4.5 lb boxes of ‘Gluten Free Sandwich Bread.’ Even though the names are different the resulting loaves appear same.

I read Jules’ review on the TFAL bread maker, purchased one and ordered several packs of the gluten free bread mix – all on Jules’ review because after using Jules’ gluten free flour and her recipes for the past 7 years, I know everything will be wonderful. And, the bread from the TFAL bread maker was just like Jules said – high, light brown crust, and out of this world taste! Good-bye UDIs frozen cardboard! Only problem I have is keeping my non-celiac wife from eating all Jules’ bread before I get some…Thanks Jules, you rock!

There’s just no reason to miss a good loaf of bread when you’re Gluten Free!! I was terrified of trying to make yeast bread until I found out about Jules gluten free bread mix. Jules recommended a good bread machine with a GF cycle and I still can’t believe how easy it is to make wonderful GF bread that tastes better than any wheat flour bread I’ve ever had! Even with my super busy schedule I can bake a couple loaves a day! Now I’ve been recommending Jules mixes and e-cookbooks to all my friends that want to eat healthy but just couldn’t find a good GF bread! Thank Jules for taking our GF wishes and making them into GF dreams come true!! Will be using your products always!

I recently purchased the bread mix. Never thought I would be putting Ginger Ale in a bread mix, but it really works. I mixed it by hand, watched it raise, bake into a beautiful loaf and enjoyed nice even slices. When I order GF mixes from Jules, I always order two. My daughter is Celiac and I eat GF by choice, on advice of my chiropractor. The all purpose flour is the best too. My family doesn’t realize that their goodies are GF.

My husband was born and raised in Italy. He Loves your bread better than regular bread. We have tried tons of different flours and companies as our daughter has allergies to over 75%of foods, and we have come to a conclusion that keeping her allergens out of the house is the only way to keep her safe. My in-laws are here from Italy visiting and they tried the bread I made and they have requested to only eat that, as it is easier to digest and it’s amazingly delicious! You know that if an Italian family loves your gluten free bread mix, it’s got to be a great product because Italians sure do love their great tasting bread!

Loaves, bread sticks, pop-overs…in a bread machine or in the oven. The results are always the same–impeccably good bread. Hard to believe, amid all the really nasty gluten free ‘bread’ out there that gfJules gluten free bread mix can make bread this incredible. If you haven’t had a piece of bread worth sharing, worth emailing or calling another gf-er about, stop waiting. This bread is the real deal! Jules, you rock!

I made your bread mix a while ago. Delicious. The only problem I had was that it caved in on the sides when it came out of the oven. I read somewhere that if it rises too much before you bake it that it can do that. Looking forward to trying again!

I bought a single box of this mix to try out. I’ve had a lot of success with other recipes, so I didn’t want to invest in a big box to start. The bread was easy to make. I used coconut milk beverage, lukewarm as the liquid and followed the recipe according to the box. The batter was smooth and light, easy to spread in a loaf pan. It probably filled my standard size pan about 1/2 way. I let it rise on the counter next to a preheated oven for about an hour until the dough reached the top lip of the pan, with a slight dome rising above the edge. In the oven, it rose another 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. The bread has a delicious crisp crust, an amazing scent and a soft sponge-like crumb that holds together beautifully. The taste is delicious. The bread is easy to slice, even when very hot out of the oven (I couldn’t help myself!). I want more than one loaf. I will definitely be buying the value box next time!

We are LOVING this bread! (and you will too!)

Easy to make, with simple instructions. It rises so beautifully. You probably won’t be able to let it cool!

And if that doesn’t convince you — here’s what my gluten eating, very picky about GF breads husband had to say:

“This is the best gluten free bread has ever been!”
“It’s so squishy. Not dense. Actually fluffy. There’s a fair amount of air pockets relative to others and it rises to a ‘real’ size, not a mini loaf.”
“We should just start the weekends making a loaf and use it for everything.”

    (verified owner):

Tonight I think we made the best loaves yet!

    We used your new recipe and decided to try the milk instead of the yogurt;
they rose higher than we’ve seen before. Perhaps the yogurt makes the dough thicker, so it doesn’t rise as high?

Due to a mistake on my part, they were baked at 325, not 350. But by the 45 minute mark the house had that “fresh bread” aroma and if I had forgotten to set the timer I might have removed them from the oven then and there.

After they’d cooled they were a bit more difficult to get out of the pans. Usually they just fall right out. Next time I may use PAM, instead of oil in the pan. Or maybe that was because of the lower temperature. But they did come out just fine with a little coaxing.

But most important of all — they tasted GREAT! Very soft, very moist and very delicious when spread with butter.

Anyone who thinks GF bread can’t compete with wheat bread simply hasn’t tried your bread kit!
