    I made gluten-free pizza crust using Jules GF flour and pizza crust recipe but added one tablespoon of sugar. It tastes just like the regular crust I used to make in my bread machine before I became gluten free. It is great to be able to eat gluten free crust with consistency and flavor of pre gluten-free pizza days and it even tastes great leftover the next day.

    We had tried several other gluten free flours we bought from the store and online and everything we did with them was a fail.     Diagnosed with celiac just over a year ago, I immediately turned to the internet to find what I no longer can have. First flour I bought was supposedly the best gluten free flour. It cost 35$ with shipping and tax. Made a batch of brownies and they were gritty. That is what I find with gluten free items. I tried the flour to coat chicken and it was a fail. Threw the flour out. 35$ Down the drain. I love social media and stumbled upon a link in my Facebook feed for gfJules. Ordered the pizza crust and muffin mix first. I first made the baguette with the pizza dough. Was shocked no gritty taste. Tasted like bread. Muffins passed a family reunion test. No one knew they were gluten free.     Hi Jules, I have to tell you what I did while waiting for your flour. I had another brand of gluten free flour, so I just whipped up a recipe of your biscuits. Thankfully I was very cautions. I ate a little nibble and then waited a few moments before I tried another nibble. Sure tasted odd to me, but I blamed myself for just thinking of the ‘old days’ and previous buttermilk biscuits.

    As the 2nd nibble was going down, the first nibble decided to ascend ……and the reaction was too dramatic. I upchucked for about a solid hour on those 2 little nibbles. Hubby tried one and said it was sort of edible. Cats mostly turned up their noses.

    So, when your flour arrived, I carefully compared the ingredients. Some the same, but mostly different. So, this morning, I took the PLUNGE and made your biscuits with your recipe. Only change I had to make was use 2% milk instead of half and half. Grocery store is 10 miles away. They smelled good just out of the oven. So I very carefully took a tiny nibble…then waited. Took another nibble. Ate the remainder of the top half. And waited. Not to much time went by before I ate the other half of the biscuit. For lunch I ate 2 biscuits.

    Wow. Well, I am a convert after one recipe. I had a lot of hope for this product, but I was still quite skeptical. “Jaded” might be a better description because it has been years of exploring gluten free flour combinations since we learned of my daughter’s intolerance in 2006. It was an entirely different market back then, mostly based on people who voluntarily gave up gluten.

    Today I made a Christmas cookie recipe that my daughter loves but hasn’t been able to eat because we couldn’t “translate” it into a GF cookie. It’s a small thing, but…. THANK YOU.     This is AMAZING!!!! After finding I was gluten intolerant I tried a few other products (not yet having found gfJules) and ended up thinking this was not going to be fun. Then I found gfJules and my whole perspective changed. I truly do use this gluten free flour 1:1 and it is THE BEST!!! Recently made an old peanut butter cookie recipe that everyone has always loved. Started small (although I usually double the batch) to be sure I didn’t waste too much if it didn’t work. Well…..should have doubled it.     I have been making my own gluten free flour for over 3 years and have never been happy with the consistency of my cookies and cakes. I have wasted so much money and time and thrown away the ingredients. It ended up costing me more!     I have made my own GF bread recipes and they have been wonderful, but mixing all the flours together can be tiring, so I decided to give this bread a try. This flour does not make everything, like said. After reading reviews and the advice around the website I decided to go for it make my Italian bread recipe. It came out bright white on outside (never got golden) and the consistency of play dough, it never baked through, except the outside became rock hard. Maybe you can make “anything” with baked goods like cookies, cakes, etc., but for bread you cannot just make your grandmas recipe… 🙁

      Hi Christine, I’m happy to help you work with your recipe to get it right, gluten-free. As part of the mission of my company, I try to help people wherever possible to use their family recipes again; sometimes they need more tweaking than others, and yeast bread recipes are the ones which are typically the most complicated.
      While the gluten-free conversion can be seamless in many types of recipes, the methods for yeast breads are quite different. I’d suggest you start with my article on converting recipes to gluten free, and review it for tips and suggestions with your recipe. Also, compare your recipe and directions to my baguette recipe which should turn out quite similarly to your wheat flour Italian Bread recipe.
      Sometimes it’s obvious when comparing recipes that the proportions are radically different or there is more leavening in the gluten free version or a variance like that, but with yeast breads, it’s often the directions that are the most different. I should note that the bright white color your bread developed was likely because most gluten free flour blends are low fat and low protein, so there is nothing to “brown” while baking — which is why I recommend brushing the outside of the loaves with egg wash or oil to help brown the crusts.
      One other thing you could try is my pizza crust mix which already has Italian herbs included and makes the absolute easiest and most delicious loaf bread — spray with water for crustier tops or wrap with foil for the end portion of bake time to keep the crust soft. Here’s a quick video showing the method which would work great with my mix, my recipe or even your recipe once we get the recipe just right.

    Hi, my name is Judy and I just bought gfJules gluten free flour and I have to say I love it! When I found out that I could not eat Gluten anymore I was very upset. I love cookies and cakes and everything gluten and I love to bake and bake all the time for my family. So I started my search to find the best GF flour out there. I tried Robinhood Gluten free flour but it turned my bread grey and hard as a rock. Next I tried Nextjen and it was okay, the texture a little tough and it was on the dry side of my baking (which I never had a problem with before). And so my search continued. My husband was getting mad at me for buying so much Gluten free flour and only using it once. If it is not to my liking’s then I refuse to cook with it. I need my baking to be the best or I don’t bake at all. Then one day I was searching the web for a Gluten free recipe and came across the name Jules. I read about her flour and saw the reviews so I ordered a box. The price for the flour is good, but since I live in Canada the price for shipping is expensive, but I threw caution to the wind and bought the flour. It arrived within 5 to 10 days and I made very peanut butter cupcakes with peanut butter frosting and Hot Dog buns. They came out beautifully.     This flour is without a doubt, the best thing you can buy, if you are trying to eat gluten-free. I have lived with this allergy since 2000, back when there weren’t many good options.     I ordered two sample packs and made my mother’s recipe for cinnamon rolls. They tasted almost exactly the same (heavier as I only got one half the number of rolls, but I wasn’t about to complain). Unfortunately, I got horrible gas and resulting you-know-what and I finally figured out that it was xanthan gum. I have had gas off and on since I was diagnosed with Celiac but didn’t realize it was the xanthan gum (I experimented with other recipes using a different flour and got gas also). I am soooo disappointed. Xanthan gum is in a lot of stuff – almond milk, ice cream. I am also milk-protein intolerant. And, now, knowing about my intolerance for xanthan gum, in addition to gluten and milk protein, I’m feeling sorry for myself. I really recommend this flour and wish I could use it as I was elated when the cinnamon rolls came out so good. But, at least I won’t be dealing with horrible gas issues now that I know enough to stay away from the xanthan gum.

    I have only been using this flour since November and it is by far the very best I have ever used. I can bake gluten free and most people can’t tell the difference.     This flour is fantastic. Prior to using gfJules I’d been exclusively using another gluten – free flour. I’d been living and baking gluten – free for a couple years when a terrible misdiagnosis led me to reintroducing poison (wheat) for most of a year. When the inevitable biopsy showed that I had indeed been celiac all along and I had to go back to gluten-free baking I tried my previous gluten free flour and it just made me gag.     Jules, for the last 2 years since I was diagnosed with Celiac I made my own blend of your flour, following it from your book. I was so excited at all the recipes I was able to make with them! Of course perfecting the flour in the beginning was a tad challenging. But I did it and was proud of myself! Once I learned you actually sold the flour yourself I wrongly assumed the cost would be higher. Believe it or not, I sat down and did the calculations yesterday before I replenished my “flour” supplies. Not only was the cost comparable, but you offer something I couldn’t easily find! Non GMO blend! Some of the “flours” I ordered were organic and/or non GMO, but not all. So disappointing!

    Once I was diagnosed with Celiac I found out how important it was to get all poisons out of my body! I researched GMOs and found out how horrible they are. And organic is important because of all the pesticides! I was so done with poison. So thank you! You made my life easier without breaking the bank even more than we already have to daily.

    When you are a baker, the worst diagnosis is Celiac disease. That happened to me two and half years ago. I have always loved being in the kitchen, baking. It is my happy place. My sanctuary. I lost a piece of me when a I could no longer bake.

    I had to use other brands of gf flour mixes, as living in Canada we are not fortunate enough to have Jules’ amazing products to use. I gave up. They tasted awful. The texture was grainy or mushy. I gave up baking.

    About six months ago, I figured out that I could get gfJules products shipped to my daughter’s place in North Dakota and she can bring them across the border for me. I was like a kid at Christmas! I bought one of everything and a cookbook. I made myself a carrot cake with cream cheese icing for my Birthday. It was like I was born again!! It was so delicious!

    I was given my first bag of Jules gluten free flour about 5 years ago, when we first started cooking gf. My cousins were helping us to get started and gave us a box of all their favorite products. I was terrified to start using it! Since then, I use it for everything!     First, I have to let you know I was skeptical… I was in love with another brand of GF flour even though it was REALLY heavy… So I ordered some of Jules’ flour one day when she had a sale and a friend who is a pro baker told me to try it. Since his pictures always looked pretty amazing, I went ahead and gave it a whirl. Our first experiment with the flour was using the Joy of Cooking Pancake recipe and adding Enjoy life chocolate chips… OH MY WORD. They were light, fluffy, and oh so delicious! So then I made cupcakes for a class and gave a speech about how to make a darn good cupcake that is gluten free and dairy free and make it taste good. The entire class loved the cupcakes AND learned about Jules flour since a big part of my speech was the importance of quality ingredients. So then I had a problem. I ran out of flour. So I ordered 27 lbs.. (Go big or go home, right? But it was $3.33 per pound on sale and with free shipping! WHO says no to that?!?!?!) But then factor in that they are non-GMO ingredients, have a longer shelf life than wheat flour, and that Jules seems to be a person of integrity. I have substituted this for wheat flour in baking that I’ve shared, with no one being the wiser. And for the folks that usually have to pass because of a gluten allergy , they are very grateful. I first tried to bake gluten free over 20 yrs ago, and yuck to what used to be available. We have come soooo far, and this is by far currently the best product available in terms of performance, taste and texture.

    My daughter is extremely allergic to anything with wheat products so I’ve tried a LOT of different GF flours and even tried making my own. I’ve learned that GF flours are not alike! This flour is probably the closest to being able to cook a recipe “as is” than any other flour. Last year I made all my Christmas cookies with this flour and they tasted just as they were supposed to. This year I bought a famous store brand and several other kinds off Amazon and they were not great. The cookies didn’t taste as light and tender. One brand was so tough it broke my cookie press! I need to go back to Jules flour! I had tried it when it came in as a Groupon a year or so ago and got as much as a could. I’m hoping to find another deal soon?!!!

    I used this amazing flour in my new cinnamon roll recipe and it was a revelation! They came out light and fluffy and tasted just like the ones we used to buy from the bakery. I love how fresh the flour is and that it’s non GMO!
