Ingredients

  • 2 ½ (202) cups (grams) gfJules All-Purpose Gluten-Free Flour OR (165 grams) gfJules Grain-Free Nada Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt or kosher salt
  • 2 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup plain yogurt like SoDelicious coconut yogurt
  • 2 Tablespoons warm water only add with gfJules All-Purpose unless dough too crumbly with Nada
  • Chopped parsley optional
  • 2-3 Tablespoons butter/dairy-free butter/ghee melted

Instructions

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the gfJules Flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Use the whisk attachment to combine everything at a low speed.
  • Add the olive oil, yogurt, and warm water. Start the mixer on low and once everything is combined, turn the mixer onto medium speed and allow the dough to mix for 2-3 minutes.
  • While the dough is mixing, start preheating a dry cast iron skillet over medium heat.
  • You should end up with a soft dough that is not sticky, but not dry.
  • Divide the dough into 6 equal portions.
  • On a clean work surface, pat or roll each dough ball out into a circle or oval. The dough shouldn’t be too sticky; lightly dust your work surface with gfJules Flour, if needed.
  • Run a large spatula under each naan to ensure that it can easily be lifted from your work surface. Stack naans with a layer of parchment paper between each one as you continue to prepare the dough portions, and cover with a towel to keep them from drying out.
  • Check to see if your skillet has preheated by sprinkling a few drops of water onto the surface; the water should dance across the surface and may sizzle and pop.
  • Place one naan bread into the hot skillet. Allow it to cook for about 1 minute, you may see small bubbles form on the bread. Flip the naan and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Each side should have nice char marks.
  • Transfer the cooked naan to a clean towel and cover the naan with the towel to keep it soft and warm while you finish cooking the other naan breads.
  • Brush the cooked gluten-free naan with the melted butter/ghee and sprinkle with the chopped parsley. Serve warm.
