I don’t know about your list, but my holiday list has lots of people on it with various dietary restrictions: celiac, gluten sensitivity, vegan, soy-free, nut-free … but one thing I know for sure: everyone loves cookies!
The beauty behind making these cute gluten free cookie mixes in a jar is that when you start with allergen-free ingredients, the recipient is free to add eggs or not, use dairy-free milk or not, choose vegan butter or not. The cookies then turn out great, and suitable for all!
Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix:

I’ve given you a couple good gluten free cookie mix recipes here, but feel free to get creative! The key is to start with quality ingredients that are already certified gluten-free and certified free of the Top 9 food allergens – that way you have nearly everyone covered. (Note that these mixes work great with egg substitutes and vegan butter and milk.)
I created gluten free cookie mix in jar labels for you to help save time, but you could hand-write whatever you liked or use cute chalkboard labels or attach a printed recipe … it’s your gift, make it how you wanna!
With any recipe, layer the ingredients for the most visual impact. With the Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix, for example, I even divided the gfJules™ flour ingredient in half and separated it for more layers.

Gluten Free Cookie Mix in a Jar
Homemade gifts are the best gifts! Make gluten free cookie jars as gifts and spread the love this holiday!
Ingredients
Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix in a Jar:
- 2 ½ cups (337.5 grams) gfJules™ Gluten Free All Purpose Flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- ½ tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. sea salt
- 1 cup brown sugar (or coconut palm sugar), packed
- ½ cup granulated cane sugar
- ½ cup chocolate chips (Enjoy Life Foods® or Pascha® Chocolates make allergen-free chips)
Gluten Free Sugar Cookie Mix in a Jar:
- 2 ¼ cups (304 grams) gfJules™ Gluten Free All Purpose Flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- ½ tsp. sea salt
- 1 cup granulated cane sugar
Instructions
Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix in a Jar:
In a small bowl, whisk together measured gfJules™ Flour with baking soda, baking powder and salt. Spoon half of this mixture into the bottom of a large mason jar (24 ounces), reserving the other half for another layer. Spoon in brown sugar, white sugar, chocolate chips and remaining flour to fill the jar in layers, being careful not to shake the jar or the layers will begin to mix.
Print directions and liquid/refrigerated additions and attach to jar before gifting. Each row across on the printables chart represents the name, wet ingredients to add, and the instructions for that cookie mix.
Gluten Free Sugar Cookie Mix in a Jar:
Whisk together the gfJules™ Flour with baking powder and salt. Spoon into the bottom of a jar (at least 20 ounce size). Top with measured sugar.
Print directions and liquid/refrigerated additions and attach to jar before gifting. Attach a baggie of colored sanding sugar or gluten-free sprinkles and a small cookie cutter for an extra special presentation.
Pin for later!
Unfortunately, I have to agree with everyone else. I love the idea, but even printed I cannot make heads not tales of the wet directions. Perhaps changing to another format even though they’re not cute circles might help?
If you read the printables by row, I think you’ll find it’s pretty clear. Each row has either the sugar cookie or the chocolate chip cookie card on it. That row will then contain the instructions and ingredients to add for that kind of cookie.
Happy holidays!

Which directions go with which recipe?
Hi Chris, I’m sorry for any confusion! I think it is easier if you print the sheet. Sadly, I’m not a technology expert and I’ve done my best with these free printables!
There’s one line for each; the mixes are completely different and the directions are as well. I hope if you just print a sheet of the directions it will be easier to follow. They are color coded as well, so I hope that helps! 🙂

Really unimpressed. The printable directions literally say to add wet ingredients but no other instruction. So happy I put my jars together BEFORE discovering this. What a waste.
Hi Clementine, I’m not sure what you’re talking about, as the printable directions actually describe the mixing, refrigerating, baking and rolling (for sugar cookies). Are you sure you were looking at actual free printable directions I created for folks to use?

Hey there. I tried clicking on the labels for the wet ingredients but was unsuccessful. What can I do?
Hi Kristy – if you click on the photo of the labels, you should be able to print the pdf from there. Not sure it will work from a cell phone, but it works from a desktop computer. If you’re still having trouble, you can always just email us at Support@gfJules.com and we can email the file to you to print. I hope that helps!

Very confusing directions Which wet ingredients belong to which recipe?
Ok, have you tried printing them? I think it would be more obvious if you print the sheet. I honestly don’t know what to do to make the directions more clear; I’m not a technology expert and I’ve done my best with these free printables!

Hi Maryanne – click on the photo of the labels for the wet ingredients to add to the mix!

The circle instructions are nice, but liquid ingredients are different. Which one goes to Choc Chip and which to sugar cookies?
Hi Linda – each row across belongs to the cookie named in that row. Sorry for any confusion!

Hi Jules,
What size mason jar do you need for the Choc Chip Cookies recipe?
Thanks!
Kate
You’ll need the 24 ounce size Mason Jar. Hope that helps!

Thanks. Also do you have to use Shortening? Or can I increase the butter and if so, to how much?
Hi Kate, the mix is written for 1/2 shortening and 1/2 butter. Shortening is 0% moisture, while butter is 80% moisture, so if you simply used all butter, then the cookies would have more moisture and spread more. I would definitely recommend freezing the dough in balls and baking from frozen if you do that, but expect more spreading if you use all butter. Hope that helps!

Im confused what liquid instructions go with what cookies?
Hi Sydney – if you’re looking at the pdf of the labels I give you to print out, the directions and liquids to add are all in the same line as the name of the mix. Sugar cookie mix, for example would need 1/2 cup shortening, 1 egg or substitute, 1 tsp vanilla and 1/4 cup milk and the directions are right next to it. I hope that makes sense!
~jules
What quantity of liquid/refrigerated additions
Hi Luba – all the info is in the labels that you can print out or just review — see the photo you can enlarge and print if you like. Hope that works for you!
