This easy gluten free, dairy free mashed potato filling is delicious on its own or as yummy stuffing to homemade gluten free pierogi or gluten free ravioli!
Add your favorite milk to get the consistency you prefer — thicker for a pasta filling, creamier for mashed potatoes. As a filling for homemade gluten free pastas, you want the mixture to be thick enough to hold in your hand so that it will not be too runny inside the pasta.
Gluten Free Mashed Potato Filling Recipe
This easy gluten free mashed potato filling is the perfect recipe for homemade gluten free pierogi or homemade gluten free ravioli recipes!
Ingredients
- Onion-Mushroom Sauté
- 1 1/2 lbs. Russet potatoes
- 6 oz. grated cheddar cheese or non-dairy cheese (see my recommended dairy-free brands here)
Instructions
Peel potatoes and cut into quarters. Boil in salted water for 8-10 minutes, until tender but not mushy. Drain and mash in a large bowl.
Stir in just enough of the sautéed filling mixture to the mashed potatoes to create a creamy, but not wet filling. Add the grated cheese and stir.
Form balls with the mixture, approximately the size of a large marble for round or square raviolis or an ob-long piece for pierogi or rectangular ravioli. Depending on the size of the pasta you've cut, you will make the filling a smaller or larger amount.
Set aside on a plate, covered, until ready to use in gluten free pierogi or gluten free ravioli.
I hope you love this recipe as much as we do!
