Summer is a great time to give guys you love unique cooking, baking, traveling, drinking and just all around great gifts of all shapes, sizes and prices! Time for the gfJules Father’s Day gift guide & more! Thirty-eight thoughtfully curated gifts just for guys. Ok, not really — anyone would love these great finds!
Every guy needs sharp tools. Horl makes the having to sharpen the tools part, fun.
I discovered this brand at the Inspired Home Show this year and was mesmerized watching how sublimely simple it was to restore a dull blade to its former glory, all with just a rolling barrel, grinding discs, and a perfectly angled magnetized block.
Granted, the discs are made from diamonds, but there has to be some magic somewhere. ($139 and up)
Every guy needs good knives, but let’s focus for a moment on bread. Did you know that there is a knife actually designed to cut through crusty artisan breads and baguettes, sandwiches and other homemade breads (perhaps like some your family has made from a gfJules Bread Mix?) — a knife specially made to slice through these breads with ease and speed without tearing or pulling at the bread? Shop for these gorgeous knives with code GFJULES and get 10% off!
The offset scalloped blade also keeps your hand away from the bread and from surfaces as it’s being used. That’s this knife. It’s also made with a quad tang handle designed with steel exposed on all four sides to provide balance and superior comfort to the hand. It comes packaged beautifully in a gift box, as well! Perfect for Father’s Day, don’t you think? ($59.95) (Words With Boards Seriously Gluten Free Large Board $79.00) (gfJules Gluten Free Baguette Recipe for Bread Mix)
Every guy needs a good backpack, no matter their age. Backpacks distribute weight and carry stuff — all kinds of stuff. The best backpacks do it stylishly.
Chrome Industries uses recycled materials to make fashion-forward products like this Ruckas Backpack 14L with padded laptop sleeve (fits up to 13″ laptop) and gusseted bottle pocket. Zippered side access and lightweight durability are among the many reasons this backpack is a great choice for work or for pleasure.
Chrome makes commuter bags, messenger bags, backpacks and more, all built to last. (Available on Amazon $90)
The ultimate summer grilling tool from Peugeot-Saveurs is this brand new BBQ Pepper Mill. It’s specifically designed for outdoor use, impact resistant, versatile, durable, and totally unique.
Its key features are unlike any other, namely an LED light which turns on as the mill is tilted to 25 degrees, an extra long battery life (with at least 20,000 on/off cycles before battery changes), hanging hook, rubber protection and stainless steel base, plus the highest quality pepper mill mechanism. With a lifetime guarantee, the BBQ Mill is the next in Peugeot’s long line of quality mills boasting both exceptional form and function.
Because it’s a Peugeot, the pepper grinding mechanism is top-notch and backed by a lifetime warranty. Operates with a classic grind adjustment system: turn the knob clockwise for a finer grind, or counterclockwise for a coarser grind.
Additional details: made from wood sourced from French PEFC certified forests and made using water-based paint and varnish. 12-inches long, offered in graphite. Availability is limited. ($99)
Grilling Apron
Guys need a heavy-duty apron for the kitchen or the grill … or for other various projects. Providing extra protection against all kinds of spills and splatters, this one is water resistant, yet will break in over time to become more flexible and his favorite. Built to last with heavy duty stitching, metal hardware, 2 waist pockets and a chest pocket for tools, pencils or a phone. US-based business. (Available on Amazon $49.99)
The “Swiss Army Knife” of bottles, this plastic-free bottle is designed to be the 18-ounce insulated stainless water bottle you already know and love, but also so much more. Clever compartments all around and under this bottle hold a removable spork and expandable straw, plus a hidden base which opens to hold keys, ear buds or even protein powder!
The wide-mouth opening makes it easy to jam in those ice cubes and the leak-proof lid sports a riveted handle for easy carrying or attaching to bags with a carabiner. Best of all, this bottle costs no more than an average stainless water bottle! Now that’s smart! ($29.99)
Crafted by a husband and wife team in small batches, this beard oil and beard balm help your guy stay well groomed and smelling fine. Made from all natural oils, bees wax, shea butter and other manly smelling ingredients — all gluten free.
Anecdotally, I’ll say that both my husband any my stepson thought these products were awesome and loved the scents. More options for a nice gift box for any guy include shower bombs, hand soaps, lotions and tatoo balms.
Starting with the establishment of the NewYork Knickerbockers Base Ball Club by a young Manhattan shipping clerk in 1846, in The New York Game, Baker traces baseball and its city of origin through over a century of rise and fall: from the birth of the league system to the birth of the subway system; the construction of the first Polo Grounds to the construction of Grand Central; the breaking of the color line to the signing of the Fair Employment Act; Babe Ruth and John McGraw to Fiorello La Guardia and Tammany Hall. The result is a hugely entertaining history that brings to life all of the myths and legends, players and games, that made NewYork—and this game—what we know them as today.
Be A Scribe! Working for A Better Life in Ancient Egypt by Michael Hoffen (April 9, 2024). This father-son story spans the ages. Written by a modern day teenager who spent years translating ancient hieroglyphics to current prose, only to find that teens face the same important decisions they always have, and parents still struggle today with connecting to their teens and trying to guide them on their life’s journey.
The translated text reveals a wit that transcends 4,000 years, as well as over 100 beautiful images of vibrant and colorful ancient Egyptian artifacts, paintings, graphics and illustrations featured throughout the book.
You may think if he has a coffee maker he doesn’t need a cold brew coffee maker. You would be wrong. It’s summer, and there’s really nothing better for a coffee lover than an ice cold coffee — but not the watered down kind. And sometimes you want it now, not tomorrow.
The DASH Rapid Cold Brew Maker is the answer. What a sleek machine, handsome enough to leave out on the counter and handy enough to want to. In under 10 minutes, a carafe of his favorite coffee (brewed mild, regular or bold) can be ready and waiting, smooth and cool, just like he is (or you can tell him something like that when you gift him this machine).
Any dairy-free dad knows that finding a creamy, great tasting milk free “mylk” can be a tough task, but shelf-stable and store bought vegan milks can contain unhealthy preservatives and additives, so making your own is an intriguing proposition. The problem is that with homemade nut milk makers of the past, it can be a long, tedious and messy process.
Which is why I watched with interested as the Nutr was demonstrated at the Inspired Home Show in Chicago this year. It seemed easy enough, and the nut milks they created were definitely delicious, but I wanted to try for myself. (Pictured below with gluten-free oat milk – be sure to use purity protocol certified gluten free oats)
I can assure you that having used this Nutr machine in my own home, it’s as good as they make it look. Vegan milks (nuts, flaxseed, soy, oats, rice, hemp), creamers, lattes, smoothies, shakes are all easily made within a matter of only a few minutes and just with the push of a button. A room temperature setting makes gluten free oat milk and other chilled milks; the warm (140 degrees) setting makes warm beverages and creamers; hot setting (212 degrees) boils water or soy & rice milks for safe consumption.
The Nutr doubles as an electric tea kettle with Water Boil, and there’s a Self Clean cycle for even easier maintenance. Also featured is a delay start up to 18 hours to pre-soak nuts for even creamier results. Comes with a stainless steel measuring spoon, handy stainless steel strainer, cleaning brush, power cord, and recipe book. (Available on Amazon)

Not all states are eligible, but there are some fantastic gluten free beers out now, and you just might be able to surprise your guy with a special delivery. Craftshack offers delivery to some states on Holidaily and Ground Breaker naturally gluten-free beers. Check my Gluten Free Beer Tasting Notes for more great naturally gluten free beers to find even more options, but here are a couple new and seasonal varieties to get excited about (these brewers also offer more conventional varieties, so check them out!).
Ghostfish Gosefish – Hibiscus-Cranberry Gose — Tart, salty, and refreshing, this adventurous take on a traditional German sour ale is brewed with an intriguing mix of fruit and spices. Brewed with malted buckwheat (Skagit Valley Malting), malted millet (Grouse Malting Co.), malted rice (Eckert Malting), quinoa, cranberry puree, hibiscus, hops, coriander, salt and yeast. 4.5% ABV 8 IBU.
Currently shipping only to Washington State and Washington D.C. or buy through Liquid Data shipping to 40 states! Also check their Beer Finder tool, as it’s widely distributed elsewhere: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, Colorado, Utah, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York, British Columbia (Canada), and Alberta (Canada).
Another option is to go to Half Time Beverage and order from there. If your state allows alcohol to be shipped in, it’s a fun option to mix and match a gift pack, but make sure you’re only ordering GLUTEN FREE, not Gluten Reduced beers, to be safe!
Love wine but hate the morning after wine headaches? That’s where PureWine Wands come in. These ingenious wands purify your vino by removing those pesky histamines and sulfites in all kinds of wines. The wands are single use, although the reps I’ve spoken with have indicated that you may be able to use one wand for 3 minutes and then again in another glass for another 3-4 minutes if you’re not extremely sensitive. They’re available in 3, 8, 30 & 90 packs and each wand comes with a twist off wine charm to help you keep track of your glass. (8-pack $24.99)
Another solution is PureWine’s new Phoenix ($69.99) — a device that looks like an aerator attachment for your wine bottle. The filtration system is in a pod inserted into the Phoenix and works as you pour out of the bottle, eliminating the need for a single-use wand. It requires a new pod for each bottle, however. The starter kit comes with the pouring device, air tube and 3 Bio-Pod Wine Purifying Cartridges. Added bonus: PureWine claims that the Phoenix restores the viability of opened wine that’s gone bad!
Wine Backpack
The VinXplorer Wine and Beverage Backpack is a versatile solution to the problem of how to transport your favorite wines safely, discreetly, and efficiently! It comes with two 1.5 liter refillable bladders as well as a two-bottle carrier to refill your drinks and a nozzle for storing and dispensing the wine inside a waterproof compartment. It also boasts a padded laptop compartment, and the bladders are removable, making the backpack usable as an everyday backpack, in a pinch! ($199.95)
Wine Bottle Storage System
WineHive wine bottle storage system is a modern, modular honeycomb wine rack mountable on a wall as functional wall art or suitable for countertop display. Horizontal storage keeps corks moist and makes it easier to find the bottle of your choice, plus the contemporary design makes a bold statement to show off a wine collection of any size. Sold in 5, 20 or 50 cell bundles. 1% of retail sales donated to bee-saving efforts in Washington State’s Pollination Program. (starting at $74.95)
Drinking wine for many of us is a process and a passion. For many wines to be enjoyed with full flavor and aroma, they should be aerated if they haven’t been decanted for hours before hand. And if the whole bottle isn’t enjoyed in one sitting (who are you?!), the wine should be properly preserved. That’s where the Airtender Wine Lover’s Set from the Netherlands comes in.
The aerator microfilter in the air pump creates millions of bubbles for quick aeration of wine, but also mixes and foams fancy cocktails without need of a shaker. I saw this feature in action at the Inspired Home Show and it’s really impressive on a cocktail bar!
The set also comes with leakproof nanostoppers which fit flat against the top of any bottle for vacuum sealing, even under screw cap tops. This sealing system even allows for horizontal storage on a rack or in the refrigerator without drips, meaning you can keep that bottle fresh up to 5 times longer. (Available on Amazon)
Anyone who’s ever been to Italy or dreamed of going to Italy or likes Italian food or has an ounce of Italian heritage or loves lemons or is interested in trying regional specialties either already knows and loves limoncello or will, with their first sip.
Limoncello is a classic Italian liqueur made by infusing alcohol with lemon peels, pulp and juice to produce a bright, tart citrus taste in a favorite digestif. Luxardo Limoncello is an artisanal product that has been produced according to the original family recipe since 1905. I prefer limoncello well chilled, but others have suggested serving it on the rocks with soda or tonic water.
Seems like smoked cocktails are all the rage, but they cost a small fortune at a bar, so why not arm your man with the tools he needs to make his own at home? This cool smoked cocktail kit from Charcoal Companion has everything he needs to follow tried and true recipes or become his own mixologist: Glass Bottle with Stopper; Applewood Sticks; Funnel Stand; 6-Pack of Coasters; Recipe Cards; Wood Skewers to Garnish.
Simply light an applewood stick, place it in the funnel stand and place the upturned bottle on top, capturing the smoke. Pour your favorite cocktail into the smoke-filled bottle and shake or swirl to infuse with the rich flavor. Pour, enjoy and be fancy! ($22 on Amazon)
This ingenious smartphone accessory is the size of a credit card, but as functional as they come. This Pocket Tripod by Geometrical folds totally flat (the thickness of two credit cards), but adjusts to hold any phone or case — landscape or portrait — enabling handsfree photography or watching of all kinds, on the fly.
It works in a bit of an origami fashion, twisting and locking in all kinds of geometric configurations and angles, with multiple adaptors to hug your phone or case with a super snug fit. Any guy would be fascinated and duly impressed by the ingenuity that went into creating this tiny but mighty device.
Use it for videos, photography, timelapse, or just handsfree facetiming on any surface. (Available on Amazon $35)
Empower dad to make his own gluten free pancakes and waffles, or make fun seasonally-themed waffles for the family with this Dash Mini Maker and Storage Set. There’s no set-up required, so even the un-handiest of dads can handle it, and the interchangeable plates even pop into the dishwasher for easy clean-up!
This mini maker takes up hardly any space, and the plate storage box makes it hard to lose the adorable plates you’ll start collecting for yourself or for him! ($40 on Amazon)
Makes waffles, pancakes and even eggs! Plus, check out these addictive gluten free Cinnamon Roll Pancakes! And here’s the link to the gfJules Gluten Free Pancake & Waffle Mix you’ll want to be sure to give WITH the Mini Maker, so he won’t have to fuss with making gluten free pancakes from scratch, and he’ll make award-winning pancakes and waffles every time! (also available on Amazon)
Here’s the recipe for Gluten Free Cinnamon Roll Pancakes:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the cinnamon roll rolling ingredients. Transfer to a small bag with a very small corner cut out.
If making cream cheese glaze, soften cream cheese and butter and stir together with sifted powdered sugar and vanilla in a separate bowl and set aside.
Preheat pancake and waffle maker with pancake plates. I didn't find it necessary, but if you prefer, lightly oil each plate, then add 3-4 Tablespoons of pancake batter to bottom plate. Squeeze a spiral of cinnamon filling onto the batter, then close the lid. Cook for approximately 4-5 minutes, or until fully cooked.
Lift pancake out and allow to cool slightly before serving, or if dressing with cream cheese glaze, allow to cool for at least 5 minutes, then drizzle with glaze. Repeat with remaining batter.

Any baker worth their salt needs a batter bowl. My favorites are from Mason Cash, and this measuring jug isn’t girlie in any way, just functional and attractive enough to be left on anyone’s counter, man or woman. The internal measurements are offered in both millilitres (ml) and fluid ounces (fluid oz) and it has an oversized handle more comfortable for larger hands.
The easy-pour spout and eight separate flat areas/grips around the diameter of the jug allow it to be tilted at any angle for easier and more effective mixing/whisking. It’ll be perfect for all those gluten free Cinnamon Roll Pancake breakfasts to come. ($29 on Amazon)
Dedicated Gluten Free Toaster
Seems like a small thing, but an un-contaminated toaster would make any gluten-free person’s day (and hey, it’s better than a tie!). This wide-slot toaster from Proctor-Silex is great for all gluten-free breads, including bagels!
The special bagel feature toasts the cut-side and only warms the rounded side. Fits wider slices of bread (Texas Toast, anyone?) and is easy to clean with a slide-out tray accessible from the front. Seven toast shades plus a Toast Boost feature lifts smaller slices higher so they’re easier to remove. ($34.99) (Black version $23.99)
This slow cooker looks like a cooler and it definitely belongs at a tailgate.
Whether it’s used for gluten free meatballs, macaroni, lasagna, or my famous gluten free Crockpot Pizza, it is the kind of appliance every guy will get into.
It’s lightweight, sturdy, locks and won’t spill in transit, is easy to mark up so everyone knows that what’s inside his cooler is the best dish at the BBQ … basically the Presto Nomad portable slow cooker just makes sense.
The cooking pot is removable and porcelain-enameled (PFAS-free) and it’s seated inside the cool-touch insulated exterior. With a whiteboard (comes with its own erasable marker) and carrying handle, it’s the perfect gift for all the summer cookouts to come. Available in 6-Quart (shown above) or 8-Quart sizes and in other colors. ($78 on Amazon)
And just in case he does spill gluten free food on his way to the tailgate, it won’t be a problem with Husky Liners. Husky is the original floor liner, but makes so much more.
These X-Act Contour Liners are perfect in my husband’s truck, but he’s already working on a list of other Husky add-ons he’d love to have, and Husky’s site makes it easy to shop for others. You just enter the year, make and model of the truck, and Husky makes sure the liners or other accessories will fit.
Everything from gearboxes, mudflaps, truck bed rail covers and bedliners to garage mats and phone mount holders, the Husky site has it and because it’s Husky branded, he’ll trust it and love it.
Nesco is one of the premiere dehydrator brands, having made dehydrators for over 30 years. Their latest model Gardenmaster is a step-up for anyone like me who is used to older dehydrator styles, making this rather time-consuming process much faster (four times faster!). Eight trays in a compact, modern design means no tray rotation and regular management. It’s pretty plug-and-play dehydration tech.
Even for the uninitiated, dehydrating foods of all kinds is a fun way to preserve foods without requiring any skill or additional accessories like canning. It also preserves much of the foods’ nutritional values. Your own imagination is the only limit on what you can dehydrate: from fruits like citrus, apples and bananas, to all kinds of vegetables, to jerky, fish and herbs … you can even use this dehydrator to dry flowers for crafts and potpourri. Additional accessories are available. (On Amazon $159)

Fans of our podcast, You Had Me At Eat, already know this handy, inexpensive gadgetcalled Negg is on my Father’s Day list. It’s ridiculously simple and looks like a beta fish jar you’d pick up a the pet store (with a lid). But it works. Trust me. It makes peeling hard boiled eggs a thing of the past, as it practically does it for you.
Simply add eggs to boiling water and boil for 13-14 minutes (my own father’s trusted method), then drain and fill the pot with ice water. Once the eggs are cool enough, put one in this handy contraption with more water and shake, shake, shake. The water gets between the broken shell and the hard boiled egg, allowing you to peel back the shell without any of the usual struggle or complaint. It’s almost fun! ($16.95 Available on Amazon)
Anyone who loves fresh-squeezed orange juice, or enjoys a mixed drink with lemon or lime juice, will appreciate the newest innovation in handheld juicers: the Fluicer from Dreamfarm. It’s next level easy to use and sublimely designed, even folding flat for storage in a drawer! Lime: 9-inch; Lemon: 10-inch; Orange: 11-inch ($11.99-19.95, depending on size – Available on Amazon)
